Aria – April Stick It Down Reveal

Happy April everybody! It’s time for my Stick It Down double page reveal.

I dove into my stash and used some of the papers and embellishments I was “saving” and “didn’t want to ruin” for this month’s layout.  The pictures were from my most recent trip to Vegas where I stayed at the Aria.  I plan to use this page in a mixed traditional and pocket page album since I tend to take a lot of pictures and collect a lot of “stuff” when traveling and pocket pages are perfect for that.  So, here is my page for this month:

Untitled

I used papers from Teresa Collins, Studio Calico and American crafts.  The cut file I made myself on the Silhouette. The photo stickers are by Simple Stories. The phrase stickers are Tim Holtz. The mists are Heidi Swapp Color Shine. And the 3 little gems are by Teresa Collins.

As for the pictures, one view is of one of the towers at Aria, a pool selfie where I spend a few hours every day until I need to escape the heat, the spectacular brioche french toast and bottomless rosé from brunch at Bardot, and the super cool tequila wall at Javiers.

Here is the sketch for this month so you can join us over at Stick It Down for a chance to win a prize, or be a featured designer! Fun! Check out their blog today to see what the rest of the double page team has created for your inspiration. As always, I can’t wait to see what you create!

March Stick-It-Down Feature Reveal

Hello and Happy March!

I am thrilled to be back with Stick It Down this month after missing last month.  Thank you to the wonderful team at Stick It Down for being so supportive as I looked after some family matters.  I did eventually complete February’s layout and will post it at some point.

March is also the month where I am the featured designer for the Stick It Down double page team! (no pressure!)  We have a really fun layout for your double page scrapbook inspiration.  Once again I took a few liberties with the sketch and had a little bit of fun with it.  I opted to stick with photo and embellishment clusters like in the sketch, but used a bunch of journaling cards and changed the sizes of the elements to work for me.  I worked with the Fancy Pants Summer Sun collection that I picked up at ScrapFest last year. I just love the dreamy colour palette and all the fun embellishments that are great for building fun clusters.  The paper is also an amazing weight and texture.

So here is what I created for this month:

March Feature 2a

I used pictures from our amazing January trip to Playa del Carmen and Cancun Mexico. I added in some misting (Heidi Swapp and Tattered Angels) and inking (Tim Holtz), as well as a few fun rhinestones from Recollections.

Here is the sketch for March:

So now it’s your turn! Hop on over to the Stick It Down blog to view the sketches (single page, card AND double page!) and be inspired. To see what the rest of the double page team has created you will want to go back on Monday the 6th to see their reveals!  Make sure you share your creations with us by the end of the month for a chance to win a prize AND to be a featured designer for May!  I can’t wait to see what you create!

Peace and Joy – Stick it Down January Reveal

I really didn’t intend to take 8 months off of blogging. I am happy to announce I will be blogging again at least once a month as I have joined the double page team at Stick it Down sketch challenge blog. For those unfamiliar, Stick it Down posts a single page, double page and card sketch monthly. Scrappers and card makers are invited to join in the challenges by sharing their work and may be selected to be a future guest designer, and occasionally prizes are offered too.

This month I chose to scrapbook some pictures from this Christmas. I won a My Mind’s Eye Comfort and Joy page pack at a recent scrapping retreat and I thought it was a great time to use my new goodies. I often buy beautiful Christmas paper and then so seldom scrapbook Christmas because I don’t take very many pictures.

Untitled

The title is a Silhouette cut file. I used some Christmas washi from my stash that I think is My Mind’s Eye as well, and finally some American Crafts twine behind the chipboard stocking.

In typical to me fashion, I took some liberties with the sketch to suit my style a bit better. That’s the beauty of sketches for me. I used to view them as very limiting, but have learned to treat them as more of a suggestion or guideline.

Here is the original January sketch we had to work with:

So, now it’s your turn to hop on over to the Stick It Down blog and see what the rest of the team has created and join in any or all of the challenges!

Finally, thank you to those who have reached out and wondered if I was going to be blogging or posting my work again. Work, school, and the seemingly never-ending house project have kept me busy. Also, aside from Ready, Set, Create! and a ScrapMuch? retreat, where I worked on my many unfinished projects, I haven’t been crafty at all. Obviously that’s changing!

Adventure – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hi everyone! It’s time once again for a ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Team A reveal!

This week I went with a whole mishmosh of my travel themed scrapbook things. What I really like about how this came together, is I used products from several manufacturers and it still managed to work (if I do say so myself).  The picture was at the start of the epic trip that took way longer than it should thanks to a mechanical delay for the second leg.  I took a selfie when it was all over – it was significantly less flattering. So here is my layout for this week:

13012770_10153388351726039_2713036828675287697_n

I have a mix of Jillibean Soup, Simple Stories, Heidi Swapp, We R Memory Keepers, October Afternoon, and Evalicious in the paper and embellies. I stamped with some Teresa Collins and Dear Lizzy stamps, used some Tim Holtz distress ink, some Wink of Stella marker on the geotag heart, and some Heidi Swapp colour shine mists. And of course put in the important details with an amazing uniball signo white pen.

Here is the sketch we had to work with:

Celebrate – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

No foolin! It’s April!  It’s also the first Friday in April which means it’s time for another ScrapMuch? Team A double page layout reveal.

I dug into my stash and used some of my hoarded Cosmo Cricket wedding themed paper – so you know this is a pretty special layout! Cosmo Cricket used to be my absolute fav scrapbook paper company and I don’t have much left. So, I used it to feature one of my fav couples who just tied the knot and I am so grateful I got to be there for the amazing celebration of this special couple. Without further adieu, here is my layout for this week:

Untitled

I managed to mix in some new with the old by using my Heidi Swapp Minc again with a few Minc shapes for the embellies. The washi tape is Graphic 45. The heart border is a Martha Stewart punch. I got to use my Dear Lizzy roller stamp to stamp the memorable date as part of the embellishment cluster. And the title is American Crafts.

Here is the sketch we had to work with this week. I personally have never managed to get slanted photos to work in a way I’m happy with – I own that I’m more clean and simple than I am whimsy. And that’s ok.  I otherwise stuck pretty true to the sketch:

Paradise – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal!

Hello and Happy February!! 🙂

It’s the first Friday of the month, which means it’s time for another ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Team A 2 page layout reveal!

I am so excited to see February get here! It’s vacation month for me and I’m finally heading south to visit my happy place after 3 long years. So of course, past memories of my time there became the inspiration for this week’s layout.

So here is what I created for this week:

Untitled

And here are some detail shots:

Untitled

I used my Kelly Purkey stamps in blues, as well as some Teresa Collins stamps, because of the amazing waters, and orange because it’s one of the resort theme colours. Everything in the resort is white, silver and orange. That little Enjoy The View tag is from a treasure box from a vendor at a mega crop I was at in November.

Untitled

I love love love this title! It’s a Silhouette cut file that I filled in with black, printed on my laser printer, cut with the Silhouette and then sent through the Minc with silver foil. I also used an embossing folder on the second piece of patterned paper but on the reverse side to create a debossing effect. The flair up top is from Lawn Fawn. The washi is Bella Blvd and My Mind’s Eye.

Untitled

More shots of the debossing, the Tattered Angels stamp and some messy misting. I even dug into my stash and used some of my favourite 7Gypsies paper for this layout. Both grey pieces are from the same 7Gypsies line, as is the ribbon.  The accordion circle embellishment is from Pink Paislee.

So here is the sketch we had to work with for this week:

Today – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello everyone and happy Friday!

It’s also time for a ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Team A Reveal!

This week I am featuring a special little lady who turned 1 on December 1st.  I figured it was a fitting layout for this week, as this Sunday marks 1 year since her adoption into our home and hearts.  I’m talking about none other than sweet Tiffany.  She also has a Game of Thrones name of Tiffalyn Baratheon.  I’m not sure how I feel about her being a Baratheon… I digress.. Just like the photoshoot I did with Bella on her 1st birthday, I felt it was important to capture Tiffany’s 1st birthday too!

So here is what I created for this week:

Untitled

All patterned paper is Maggie Holmes for American Crafts. I fussy cut the flowers to create the circular elements. The polkadot heart, title, and 2 squares are all Heidi Swapp Minc products that I used rose gold foil on.  The pearls and chipboard ampersand are Pebbles. The floss is American Crafts. Cardstock is Bazzill Basics.

Speaking of Heidi Swapp Minc…. I am in loooooooove with her new CHA releases for the Minc! I can’t wait to get my hands on the reactive mist and ombre foils!!!  Had to believe the machine I never thought I’d use I have used on almost every layout since. I just love that metallic pop.

Here is the inspiration sketch for this week:

12185552_10153083140611039_4740593014306274375_o

As you can see I took a little liberty with the sketch this week, mostly because I was really inspired by those 3×3 Minc elements.

So now it’s your turn! Hop on over to the ScrapMuch? blog and see what the rest of team A has created for your inspiration!  I hope you get a chance to create your own sketch inspired pages to share with us!
