Simply Tiffany – May 1st Stuck?! Sketch

While cropping with the ScrapMuch? ladies on NSD I created this wee little layout based on the May 1 Stuck?! Sketches sketch. I meant to post this earlier but time just got away from me this month, so here I am just under the wire!

This sketch proved to be a little more difficult to work with for me than I thought it would be, but in the end I’m happy with the finished product. Here’s what I created from that sketch:

Untitled

I managed to use up some more of my Graphic45 Raining Cats And Dogs (love this line!), some Simple Stories embellishments from their cat line, and a few other fun embellishments from my stash. The star however is truly Tiffany. She’s so sweet when she’s sleeping!

Thanks for stopping by! I plan on spending some time tomorrow cropping with the ScrapMuch? ladies because I think it’s the last time I’ll get to join them until the fall. Have a fabulous weekend and I’ll for sure be back next week with another ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday reveal!

The Spa At Mandarin Oriental – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello everyone and happy April! It’s finally officially spring, we are finally starting to see the weather turn for the better, and it’s Easter weekend. It also means that it’s time for another ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Team A Reveal! It’s a short and sweet post for me this week. Since my last reveal I’ve been fighting a horrendous cold (among other things) and it’s still lingering. Thankfully I’m at least on the mend and the worst is hopefully behind me.

I also mentioned in my last reveal that I was traveling, and I’m happy I managed to scrapbook some photos from that trip for this layout thanks to my amazing Canon Selphy. I love love love being able to print awesome pictures at home. I took an impromptu 3 day 2 night trip to Las Vegas to get a little bit of sun and warm and escape the cold and snow. I also took some time to spoil myself at the amazing spa at the Mandarin Oriental hotel after the extremely difficult losses of Socks and Matisse. A dear friend who has been through some difficult pet loss of her own suggested I needed something to look forward to for me, and this was absolutely perfect.

Here is my layout for this week:
The Spa At MO
Supplies used: Cardstock-American Crafts; Patterned Paper and Embellishments-Graphic45 Birdsong; Clip-Freckled Fawn; Twine-Bazzill Basics; Title Stickers-Basic Grey; Mist-Heidi Swapp Color Shine

Every visit to the Mandarin Oriental spa starts with the shoe exchange ceremony where they take your shoes and bring you spa sandals, symbolizing leaving your past and cares behind. The exchange is also accompanied by some amazing mint tea and a refreshing cool facecloth. The decor in the spa is as expected, understated and elegant.

Each time I’ve gone to the spa I’ve booked a treatment at the Chinese Foot Spa. Whenever I go to a new spa I like to try their specialty, or something that is unique to them that I can’t get anywhere else. From their spa brochure: “It is the highest honor in many Eastern cultures to wash the feet of their guests. Inspired by the foot spas of the Far East, guests will receive an authentic foot treatment including a steeping hot foot bath infused with invigorating or relaxing herbal blends. After the ceremonial foot bath, guests are escorted to private reclining lounge chairs with majestic views of Las Vegas Boulevard. Detailed massage movements which focus on reflex points in the feet and lower legs provide a great way to recover from long walks on The Strip.” Speaking of long walks on the strip, my Jawbone UP24 I was averaging 8 miles a day during that whirlwind trip. So my psyche and feet earned that relaxation!! I think the look on my face in the selfie pretty much says it all. Just an amazing spa. A total treat. I’ve been lucky to visit many incredible spas in my life, and Mandarin Oriental is the best of them all.

On a scrappy note, I’m happy I got to use up more of my Graphic45 Birdsong paper pack. It seems to be lasting forever and I got to a point where I was bored of looking at it. 2 years later it was fun to work with again and I don’t have much left now. I also admit I “borrowed” a picture from their website to make the sketch work – but it was also a perfect reminder of the foot treatment. I’m also guilty of not using my letter stickers enough, so it felt great to use a bunch of them long lingering in my stash.

Here is our inspiration sketch for this week, and you’ll see I stuck pretty true to the sketch:

So now it’s your turn! Head on over to the ScrapMuch? blog and see what the rest of Team A created for this week. Then, create your own layout and link up for a chance to win an awesome ScrapMuch? prize! I’ve absolutely loved the amazing submissions we’ve been getting!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend everybody!

February Stuck?! Sketches

Just a quick post for now to get my two February layouts for Stuck?! Sketches submitted just under the wire. There isn’t much time left to play along with these, but a good night of creativity like I had last night and you can get in on it too! I’ve taken a new look at how I approach these challenges and it’s making me personally feel good. I’ve also streamlined which sketch sites I will play along with, and to quote Ali Edwards, “It is ok”.

So here is the February 1st sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Untitled
Most of this layout is from Simple Stories 24/7 line. Wood hearts are Studio Calico; flower and feather are Bella Blvd.; button is American Crafts; heart pin is Little Yellow Bicycle; playing card was from a Williams Sonoma Christmas cracker (yes, really!); stamp is Tattered Angels and ink is Stampin’ UP! Chocolate Chip.

And here is the February 15th sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Untitled
I returned to my stash for the bulk of this layout and it felt great to use papers I’d been hoarding for the “perfect” picture/sketch/whatever. The patterned paper is all Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante (circa 2010); title stickers are Basic Grey with a Pink Paislee @; washi tape is both Tim Holtz and Bella Blvd; flower is Bella Blvd.; chipboard medallion, quote and sequins are all Teresa Collins; brad is Amy Tangerine; pearls are Melissa Francis; white pen is Signo roller ball. What I love about this layout is how I was totally comfortable to mix lines, manufacturers, old, new, essentially everything. I was scrapping for so long trying to keep in same line/manufacturer/new.

It felt good to be in my room playing again. I even finally threaded my sewing machine and stitched on my second layout! And now I want to sew on EVERYTHING!!!! I do have some layouts to post that I didn’t get uploaded in time for old challenges, but I still like them, so I’m still going to post them. They were all created in the last month while I was re-evaluating just what I wanted to do with my craft. I’m pretty satisfied with the answers I came up with.

Thank you Laura for 2 great sketches and the opportunity to play along! I’ll be around to catch up on blogs and comments soon!
