RSC 2015 – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello and Happy September!

The official months of summer may be over, but I refuse to think it’s fall yet. I’m simply not ready to say goodbye to long sunny days, starry firefly nights, and soaking up as much natural Vitamin D as possible. I hate to admit this, but I spent more time working than I did making memories this summer. But, the quality of memories were top notch, and more than made up for the lack of quantity.

This week’s ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday reveal features a layout of photos from one of my summer highlights. I seriously rushed home from the event, printed photos on my Selphy and scrapbooked them just in time for the reveal upload deadline. I went to an amazing scrapbook event called Ready… Set… Create… in Burbank, CA in late August. It was an amazing weekend of scrapbooking, inspiration, learning, reconnecting with friends, and meeting amazing new friends. So. Much. Fun. Oh, and the late summer California sun didn’t hurt either.

So here is my layout:

Supplies used: CS – American Crafts; PP – October Afternoon; Embellies – Tim Holtz, Evalicious, Heidi Swapp Color Shine; Pens – American Crafts; Stamp – Dear Lizzy for American Crafts; Circle Tool – EK Success; Ink – Stash; Washi – Stash.

I have no idea why my camera kept picking up a woodgrain like finish on the cardstock. I used my circle cutter as a template to just draw the circle elements. I went for a little bit of outlining just to help pull the drawing element through the page. I also tried to keep with the event theme colours in the papers so there’s teal in the floral patterned paper, some black cardstock to anchor everything, and a polkadotted washi because my group name was the Polka Dots. So fun!

Here is the sketch we had to work with:

So now it’s your turn! Hop on over to the ScrapMuch? blog and see what the rest of Team A has created for your inspiration! Take a shot at your take on the sketch and share it with us by the end of the month for a chance to win an amazing ScrapMuch? prize! As always I can’t wait to see what you create! Have a wonderful long weekend and I hope you find some time to be crafty!

30! – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello and Happy Friday! It’s Team A’s turn on the ScrapMuch? blog again, this time with a one page layout.

Since I have a birthday looming I figured it was fitting to do a layout from a birthday I celebrated just a year ago *wink wink*.

Here is the sketch we had to work with this week:

And here is my take on the sketch:
30
Supplies used: Cardstock-Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper-October Afternoon; Feather-Bella Blvd; Sequins-Teresa Collins; Border Punch-EK Success; Crochet Flowers-Stampin’ UP!; Enamel Dots-Teresa Collins; Wordfetti-Teresa Collins; Thickers-American Crafts; Journaling Spot-Teresa Collins; Roller Stamp-American Crafts Dear Lizzy; Ink-Stampin’ UP!; Ribbon-Stash (Purchased at the totally amazing Ruffler’s Roost in Arizona!).

I think it was last month(?) there was a submission to the ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday challenge by a scrapper who used their stash of October Afternoon Cakewalk and I commented I felt like I should stop hoarding my stash and use it. And here we are… I definitely still have some Cakewalk left because it was a little too cutesy to use on this layout (yes, really!). I stuck with a pink palette because it’s my favourite colour. I actually found this sketch a bit challenging because of the “wraparound” look/feel and I’ve never done a layout with this type of sketch, so I stuck pretty true to the image with a few small additions.

So what can I say about this layout? I think this was the last time I shared a same room with both my parents together. This was a family dinner party held a little before the day because I was spending the actual day at Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun. I found 30 to be a very difficult and challenging birthday, and I journaled about it in the hidden journaling spot. Let’s just say I’m definitely glad I’m never turning 30 ever again!

So now it’s your turn, of course! Hop on over to the ScrapMuch? blog for some Team A inspiration, make your own creation and share it with us for a chance to win a ScrapMuch? prize!
