Don’t look now, but December is right around the corner! Seriously! I haven’t even assembled my “December Daily” album yet, nor have I started on my cards. I always have the best of intentions with December Daily, and usually fall in love with at least one Christmas collection each year, but I lack the followthrough on the album, and ditto to taking pictures and scrapbooking Christmas.
With the start of a new month (we’re launching it a bit early at ScrapMuch?), it’s time for Team A and the 2 page layout reveal!
And here is my take on the sketch:
Supplies used: Patterned paper-Close To My Heart; Cardstock-Close To My Heart, DCWV; Journal Card-Teresa Collins; Post Card Sticker-Bazzill; Twine-Close To My Heart; Button-Bazzill; Flair-Studio Calico; Sequins-Teresa Collins; Stickers (banner, letter, sentiment)-Teresa Collins; Tag-Pink Paislee; Washi-My Mind’s Eye; Ink-Tim Holtz Distress; Pearls-Melissa Frances; Mists-Tattered Angels, Maya Road, Tim Holtz Distress; Butterflies-Gift; Punches-Marvy Uchida, EK Success; Pen-American Crafts
I have played with a similar sketch a few times in the past, and it’s truly the perfect sketch if you have a lot of photos of an event, or if you have say a 6×6 pad of papers you love and want to incorporate some of them all into a layout! In this case, I have a ton of pictures of Sheraton Wild Horse Pass where Creative Escape was held the years I went. There is no way I could possibly scrap all of the pictures, but I did manage to take snippets of many photos with the help of my square punch, and create one layout full of many different memories. I have so many wonderful memories of Wild Horse Pass and used to spend a few extra days either before or after the event just to relax and enjoy the grounds and the amazing spa.
I think what’s pretty remarkable to me is how long the supply list was for this layout, and yet it is still very true to my clean and simple and linear style. Another thing I’d love to note is it’s totally fitting that the silver butterflies used on the layout were gifted to me by a friend I met at Creative Escape, Suzy, from her travels. Suzy has an awesome eye for the coolest embellishments and trinkets and it was totally sweet of her to think of me. She’s also been a big part of me finding my own scrapbooking “voice”. I used to stress about my projects not exactly matching the teacher’s sample, and then I’d watch her take every single project, make it her own, and it was always awesome. It took a few years of sitting next to her to finally start to relax and make the projects my own too.
So now it’s your turn, and you get the same jumpstart on December too! Hop on over to the ScrapMuch? site and see what the rest of Team A has created for inspiration, find your “voice”, make the layout your own, and share it with us. And as always, sharing with us gives you the chance to win your very own awesome ScrapMuch? prize! I can’t wait to see what you create! Have a fabulous weekend!
