Autumn – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

I know it’s not quite November yet, but it’s time for ScrapMuch? Team A’s first of the month reveal. In keeping with our routine, the first sketch of the month is a 2 pager.

Here is the sketch we had to work with:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Supplies Used: Cardstock-Die Cuts With A View, Stampin’ UP!; Patterned paper-Teresa Collins; Ink-Tim Holtz Distress for Ranger; Wood embellishments-Teresa Collins; Sequins-Teresa Collins, Fancy Pants, Lawn Fawn; Stickers-Teresa Collins; Washi tape-Bella Blvd; Die cut machine-Silhouette Cameo; Mist-Maya Mist by Maya Road; Journaling pen-American Crafts

I had so much fun playing with this week’s sketch! Honestly, when I took Scrapbook 101 at my LSS in 2005, the layout we created was a 2 pager. So I’ve never really found 2 page layouts all that difficult to work with.

For me, the biggest challenge was finding the “perfect” fall themed paper without being too cutesy to showcase these awesome pumpkin dudes! I bought the Teresa Collins Nine and Co. collection (paper and wood embellishments) from ScrapMuch? because it really was the perfect palette for these fall colours. It is an elegant line, so it also met my criteria of being not too cutesy. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy cutesy, it just felt like most fall lines this year were on the cute side. I opted to leave the wood pieces “naked” because I wanted to keep their rustic feel. The flowers that bracket the layout are indeed fussy cut from one of the papers in the pack. The title is half cut on the Silhouette, and the other half stickers from the collection pack as I’m trying to be better about using those. The quote for the title is a beautiful Albert Camus quote, which I thought was fitting given this fall display was all done up in flowers. As for those awesome pumpkin dudes and mum displays, they were in the middle of The Shops at Crystals, which was essentially attached to my hotel on the strip in Vegas (yes yes, I still need to get that trip report up). Not only were they beautiful to look at, but they were very fragrant and aromatic too.

So now it’s your turn! I’d love for you to pop over to the ScrapMuch? blog and see what the rest of the team created this week, including a warm welcome to our newest member from the design call, Barbara. If you haven’t tackled a 2 page layout yet, maybe this is the one you start off with. I promise, it’s not as scary or overwhelming as you may think! Remember if you play along with any of our sketch challenges or colour challenge (or maybe even combine the two and enter both!) and link up with us, you have a chance to win an awesome ScrapMuch? prize!

I can’t wait to see what you create! Happy Hallowe’en! Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting!

Kitty Kisses – Canadian Scrapbooker October Sketch

I’ve been spending more time in my happy place creating and I’ve been loving every second! I’ve had the Canadian Scrapbooker October Sketch Challenge sketch up in my tabs for a while because I thought it would be fun to play along with. It turned out to be a bigger challenge than I anticipated, but I’m still happy with the end result. It goes without saying I loved the process of playing with paper.

So here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Supplies used: Cardstock-Die Cuts With a View; Patterned Paper-Graphic 45; Button-American Crafts; Thickers-American Crafts; Sequins-Teresa Collins, Fancy Pants; Oval Sticker-7Gypsies; Thread-Bazzill Basics; Tab-Teresa Collins for Fiskars punch; Enamel dots-Simple Stories.

I feel like this is a lot more clean and simple than I’ve been scrapping lately, but I’m totally ok with that. I also took a little bit of license on the sketch, and I’m also totally ok with that too. I think it’s part because the Graphic 45 papers are so visual I don’t want to clutter it up too much. I also used a technique Laura Whitaker shared on her blog for embellishing buttons. It’s funny because I’ve often put a large bling in the middle of a button, but never thought to use some of the patterned paper from the collection. I also hand stitched which is a total rarity for me these days, despite loving the look on other layouts.

For the record, yes, that really is me in a cat onesie. Yes my sweet Socks is giving me kisses on my chin. She is a very affectionate cat with me in all ways, including scratchy kitty kisses!

Thanks for popping by! And stay tuned, Team A is up again this week on the ScrapMuch? blog with another Sketch-y Friday reveal, and it’s awesome!

Play – Stuck?! Sketches October 15 Sketch

When I saw the hexagons in the Stuck?! Sketches sketch I knew I had to play along. I’d been hoarding some Pink Paislee Nantucket paper and embellishments from a Pink Paislee warehouse box I bought a few years back. I was beginning to fear that I may never find the “perfect” use for the papers and embellies. Thankfully I was wrong!

So here is the inspiration sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Supplies used: Patterned Paper – Pink Paislee; Cardstock – American Crafts; Ink – Tim Holtz Distress for Ranger; Chipboard, tassel, rhinestones – Pink Paislee; Sequins – Teresa Collins; Wordfetti sticker – Bazzill Basics.

I did have a mini concern because I didn’t have the picture used printed anywhere. Have no fear, my amazing new Canon Selphy CP910 to the rescue! I am seriously in love with this printer!!! I’ve been using it a ton to print on the fly so I can finish off some of my projects, or have the perfect picture for my layout, right when I want it! I also went out on a limb a bit and actually typed my journaling. I’m definitely more of a handwritten journaling kind of girl, mostly because of convenience. Otherwise I stuck pretty true to the sketch. Sometimes that just works for me.

Fall Fun – ScrapMuch? October Colour Challenge

I’ve found myself with some extra scrappy time this month. I also had a bunch of awesome leftovers from one of my Inspiration Unlimited project kits that I couldn’t wait to play with. Amazingly enough the papers in the pack fit the ScrapMuch? colour challenge perfectly. Even after creating the Inspiration Unlimited project and this layout I still have a ton of leftover product. I know I know, so much build-up right? The papers are all Fancy Pants Designs True Friend collection. When I get my Inspiration Unlimited post done, (I’m waiting to finish a few of the projects before I blog it) I’ll share the super cute project we made with this kit. Mr & Mrs Fancy Pants (aka Jodi and Jared) were super sweet too! Really great company, really great products!

So here are the colours for this month’s challenge:

And here is what I created:

Fall Fun 2
Supplies used: Cardstock – Stampin’ UP!, Bazzill Basics; Die cut machine and shape – Silhouette Cameo; Punches – EK Success, Marvy Uchida, Carl; Sequins – Fancy Pants Designs, Teresa Collins Designs, Lawn Fawn; Chipboard Embellishments – Fancy Pants Designs; Letter Stickers – Fancy Pants Designs; Stickles – Ranger; Jute – Stash; Card, Stickers, Tag – Fancy Pants Designs.

This paper line is so much fun! My Cameo decided to have a bit of a fit when it was cutting the bubble placemat, hence the less than clean cut. I think/hope I got it fixed but I was having a mini panic attack wondering what I was going to do if my Silhouette was broken!

Here are some detail shots:

As for rules about the colour challenge:
To play along, all you have to do is create a new paper crafted project, of any type, that uses at least 4 of the colours from the colour board and post it on your blog or any other online forum (ie. your Flickr Account) that you can link us up to, by our deadline. Then link it using the Inlinkz tool in our sidebar.

One lucky participant, drawn randomly, will be winning a prize!! It doesn’t get much better than that! Everyone is welcome to play, though there may be some shipping charges to our international winners.

The deadline for linking to this challenge is October 29th 2014 at midnight.

So if you want to play along and possibly win a prize, you still have time! I hope this fun whimsy layout inspired you to create one of your own!

Thanks for popping by!

My Girl – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello everyone! I can’t believe 2 weeks have passed since my last ScrapMuch? reveal, but here we are again. Team A is back this week with yet another fabulous reveal (if I do say so myself!)!

Here is the sketch we had to work with:

And here is my take on the sketch:
SM Oct17
Supplies used: Patterned paper – Graphic 45; Distress Ink – Tim Holtz; Wood hearts – Studio Calico; Washi – stash; Wordfetti – 7Gypsies, Banner sticker – Pink Paislee; Flair – American Crafts; Metal charm – Making Memories; Thickers – American Crafts Amy Tangerine; Die cut machine – Silhouette Cameo; Photo printing – Canon Selphy CP910

I played with some of the brand stinkin’ new Graphic 45 Raining Cats and Dogs that I got from the amazing ScrapMuch?! I’ve had a long running love affair with Graphic 45 and I am absolutely thrilled they came out with a pet themed line. This line did not disappoint at all! It’s classic Graphic 45, not excessively cutesy, and has a ton of generic papers too!

My sweet kitty, Socks, is the focus of this layout. I’m trying to scrapbook her more because I know it will be really difficult when she is gone. What can I say, she’s an awesome cat, and I’m very biased.

How about some detail shots since I took them this week?

So now it is your turn! I’d love for you to pop over to the ScrapMuch? blog and see what the rest of the team created (Hint: I’m the only one who didn’t scrap a Hallowe’en themed layout because I don’t have kids and it’s been eons since I’ve gone to a Hallowe’en party)! We would love for you to join us in any one of our weekly sketch challenges or our monthly colour challenge!  Here is a run down of our Sketch-y Friday rules.  Just link up your creations in our sidebar to be entered into a random draw for our monthly prize.    You have until October 29th, at midnight to participate in any of October’s sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date! I can’t wait to see what you create!

Have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

Days Like These – ScrapMuch? Sketch-y Friday Reveal

Hello bloggers, scrappers, friends, family, lurkers…

With a tail between my legs, I’ve been a horrendous blog buddy these last 2 weeks. I promise it will get better very very soon.

I’m blogging semi-live right now from my Las Vegas hotel room on my last night in town because I forgot to queue up a ScrapMuch? reveal before I left. This last week has been such a whirlwind of activity and emotion that the reveal totally slipped my mind. So I hope you can understand and forgive the lack of detail shots to go with my layout. Last week was the final Inspiration Unlimited event (I’m getting pretty good at closing out scrapbook events!). Teresa Collins will continue to have a Vegas event next fall, that I’m already registered for, but it will be without her former Inspiration Unlimited partner in crime, Ginger. I digress… I’ve been fortunate enough to attend this event for the last 3 years and have made some amazing friends along the way. That’s one of the things I absolutely love about this hobby; the amazing friends I’ve met along the way who share my love of paper and photos.

I felt pretty on the ball having this layout done before I left – I totally should have blogged it too! But here I am… Enough build up – here is the first of the month tradition 2 page sketch we had to play with this week:

And here is my take on the sketch:
ScrapMuch October 3

The photos are from one incredible week on Isla Mujeres Mexico. The days were beautiful, sunny, and relaxing. The evenings always started out like that. Sweet.

Now it’s your turn! I would love for you to pop on over to the ScrapMuch? blog to see the amazing layouts the rest of Team A created for this week! And of course, play along with this sketch and link it up for your chance to win an awesome ScrapMuch? prize! I can’t wait to see what you create!

Have a wonderful weekend! I’m so looking forward to sharing stories and creations from this last week! But first some beauty rest….
