A Minute Short!

And just as she clicked submit link.. the linkup was closed. This was *supposed* to be a layout for Stuck?! Sketches and I barely finished creating it, zoomed to photo it, the fastest photoshop crop on it ever, rapid publish with no words.. and poof.. In any event, since this has already been seen on Facebook and twitter because I didn’t have time to edit my publish settings..

Here is the inspiration sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Stuck 2
Supplies used: Patterned Paper, star stickers, letter stickers-Pink Paislee; Washi tape-My Minds Eye; Shoes and Gatorade Jug-EK Success; Sequins-Teresa Collins; Quote-Rusty Pickle; Star Pin-Little Yellow Bicycle; Journaling card-Prima; Stamp-Tattered Angels; Ink-Stampin’ Up!

I’m an unapologetic Patriots fan, and it’s training camp time, so it was as good a time as any to finish scrapbooking my pictures from when we went to camp a few years ago. The last camp Tom Brady and Randy Moss, 2 future hall of famers, had together. I had a ball at camp (pun not intended) and really enjoyed watching the various drills. Best part was there was no stress in watching camp, I knew I was going home happy because there was no win or loss on the line!

Note to self – just use iPhone next time to rapid pic and blog the layout when down to the wire.. 😉

ScrapMuch?! Sketch-y Friday Lawn Fawn Reveal

It’s Friday! It’s Team A’s turn for another ScrapMuch?! Sketch-y Friday reveal!

This week I played with more of my Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine pack that I got from ScrapMuch?! What can I say, I have been loving the Lawn Fawn paper collection packs. They’re the right amount of whimsy without being too cutesy, you can class them up, and the sequins and flair are just amazing! I actually used this line for my “audition” sketch with ScrapMuch?! and here I am back to it again.

So – here is the sketch for this week:

And here is my take on the sketch:
Tiiu July 18 SM
Supplies used: Cardstock-Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper-Lawn Fawn; Sequins-Lawn Fawn; Flair-Lawn Fawn; Chipboard tag-Bazzill Basics; Pin-Little Yellow Bicycle; Clip-Fancy Pants; Mist-Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist; Twine-Stampin’ UP!; Arrow clip-Freckled Fawn; Title stickers-Sassafras Lass; Pen-Stampin’ UP!; Die cut machine-Silhouette Cameo; Ink-Tim Holtz Distress Ink for Ranger; Sewing machine-Janome

I opted to go spanish for the title – Sonrisa is spanish for Smile – and smile I did! I went very random with the sequins because it reminded me of bubbles in the ocean water. I used my Cameo to cut the striped paper to simulate the ocean waves. I used my cameo again to make the viewfinder from the patterned paper. Viewfinders are very much my go-to circle shape right now. I inked it a little to help the squares stand out against the orange paper backing piece.

Here are some detail shots:

As for the moment in the photo – it was an unexpectedly super fun once in a lifetime moment that I didn’t expect to love as much as I did. Before I went I worried about how cold the water would be, how well cared for the dolphins would be, how much of a tourist trap it would be (it is but didn’t have to be, the CD of photos was for me money very well spent). The water wasn’t cold at all, the dolphins were well cared for. I remember how amazingly silky their skin is, how friendly and social they are, and how smart they are.

I would love for you to pop over to the ScrapMuch?! blog and see what the rest of the team has created with this sketch. Then of course you need to play along and share it with us too! 🙂 And if you do.. there’s a chance to win a prize!!!

Here is a run down of our Sketch-y Friday rules.  Just link up your creations in our sidebar to be entered into a random draw for our monthly prize.    You have until Tuesday July 29th, at midnight to participate in any of July’s sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!

Speaking of ScrapMuch?!, I’m super excited to be spending my day tomorrow cropping with them again. Now I just need to figure out what on earth I’m going to work on while I’m there! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Triangle Mania!

I took the opportunity to create a little last weekend when I had a little bit of time off of work.

My first layout was inspired by a Scrapbook and Cards Today freebie cut file. The file can be found here.

Here is the file:

And here is what I created with that file:

I went pretty stash bananas and had a lot of fun with it. It’s a busier layout than I normally create, and I seldom mix products as much as I did here, but I had a lot of fun using stuff I’d been holding on to for so long. I’m posting from work and forgot to note down my supply list .

Also, Laura has a sketch up at Stuck?! Sketches that’s a triangle based layout, so I wanted to play with that too.

So here is Laura’s sketch:

And here is my take on Laura’s sketch:

All of the paper is from an Echo Park collection I’m still working my way through. And I had a lot of fun pulling out some of my pink embellies to go with the pink paper and my pink hoodie. Same deal on my supply list here, posting from work and forgot to jot down before I left for work.

Stuck?! Sketches has also paired up with Frosted Designs for this challenge. The Frosted Designs component is you had to use a punch or die cut on the layout. My smaller triangles I made with a square punch and then cut them in half.

It’s been a super busy month for me with a mini vacation, and a lot of work so it was good to get some extra creating time in. Hopefully I’ll get to share a bit about our mini-trip this week. And I’ll definitely be back with this Friday’s ScrapMuch?! reveal!

Love This Life – July 4th ScrapMuch? Reveal

Hello! Happy July!

Hello sunny days, late nights, flowers, enjoying the outdoors, BBQ, suntans, smiles, time to relax, shorts, sandals, fireflies, fireworks, vacations, staycations, road trips…

It’s Sketch-y Friday time, and Team A is up again at ScrapMuch? with a new sketch challenge. Of course with the start of the month, that also means we’re working with a 2 page layout.

So here is the sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:
Scrapmuch July 4
Supplies used: Cardstock – American Crafts; Patterned Paper – Teresa Collins; Sequins – Teresa Collins; Chipboard Tag – Bazzill Basics; Pearls – Melissa Frances; Chipboard Cutouts – Pink Paislee; Buttons – Pink Paislee, American Crafts; Embroidery Floss – Bazzill Basics; Ink – Tim Holtz for Ranger Distress Ink; Mist – Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist; Ribbon – stash ; Rosette Die – Tim Holtz for Sizzix, cut with Vagabond; Title – Silhouette Cameo

As always I made a few of my own little modifications. Instead of journaling I used a part of the patterned paper with a phrase I really liked – “Cherish every moment”. I may add some hidden journaling later.

This layout is from New Year’s Eve a few years ago when we spent it at my favourite resort, Le Blanc Spa in Mexico. It was a beautiful, swanky evening. Think caviar and foie gras. For the record, I don’t like caviar nor foie gras. I loved the dress I bought special for the night, and got the salon to do my hair for me too. Canapes and cocktails were served on the terrace with a beautiful view across the lagoon in Cancun. We shared many laughs with friends we’d just met that week, and keep in touch with many of them still. It was my first fancy New Years Eve party. I wore open toed shoes because I didn’t have to worry about traipsing through snow and ice. That night is one of many reasons I have to be thankful for so many amazing things in my life, and one of many reasons to love my life. That was my second trip to Le Blanc (there have been 3 or 4 since) and I truly feel like it is my home away from home. It’s a very very special place.  I can’t wait to go back.

I would love for you to visit the ScrapMuch? blog and see the rest of the amazing design team reveal for this week. And then of course you need to play along with the sketch too! 😉 Make sure you link up and share with us what you create for a chance to win an amazing ScrapMuch? prize. I can’t wait to see what you create!

Have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for stopping by! And Happy Independence Day to all my visitors from south of the 49th parallel!
