First Reveal!

Hello and Happy May!

It’s finally time to share my first reveal as a member of the ScrapMuch? design team! I’m part of Team A which means we get the first Friday of the month sketches, and they are usually a 2 pager! 2 pagers can be quite a challenge, but they can also be really fun too! They’re also a great way to use a lot of photos and fun patterned papers and embellies! I would love for you to pop on over to ScrapMuch? and see what the rest of the talented design team have created, and then join in on the fun! It’s really easy to play along and there are great prizes to be won!

Here is the inspiration sketch:

And here is my take on the sketch:

Supplies Used: Cardstock-Bazzill; Patterned Paper-Fancy Pants Trendsetter & Simple Stories Urban Traveller; Mist-Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Black Magic & Red Nosed Reindeer; Washi-My Mind’s Eye & Bella Blvd.; Die Cuts-Silhouette Cameo; Embroidery floss-Close To My Heart; Buttons-Fancy Pants Trendsetter & American Crafts Elements; Rosette & Chipboard Pieces-Pink Paislee Vintage Vogue; Gem star-from stash, bought in bulk; Large brad-Bazzill Basics

The photos were taken during my road trip to the Grand Canyon last fall when I detoured off the interstate and on to old Route 66 to visit Kingman and Seligman Arizona. I’d already scrapbooked a bunch of these pictures in my mini album from this trip, so this was a fun way to use up the extra photos I printed. I was also thankful that the last that I had of the Fancy Pants Trendsetter line paired so well with the Simple Stories and Pink Paislee elements. Essentially, I was able to shop my stash and create my own page kit. It’s so easy to stick to one line that automatically matches, but finding other lines that work is so much fun too.

For me, when working with 2 page layouts, I find the most important thing is to use some repetition to link the two pages and draw the eye across. You can easily do that with patterned paper, embellishments, shapes, etc. My other secret is I like to use washi tape on the back of the two background pages to keep them stuck together while creating the layout to help keep things aligned.

Tomorrow is also {Inter}National Scrapbook Day. ScrapMuch? is hosting an online crop via FaceBook. Please contact me if you would like to be invited to the group to play along in this virtual crop. I will be working so I can’t take part, but I’m happy to share the link with those who can.

Have a fantastically creative weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
