YES, REALLY!!!! IT’S TRUE, IT’S TRUE!!!
I am beyond excited to announce I am now a proud member of the ScrapMuch? Design Team! This is why I needed the headshot! This is why I needed some crossed fingers! This is why I had some layouts I was creating but couldn’t share yet!
What is ScrapMuch?? Well, I’m glad you asked! ScrapMuch? is an online and mobile store based here in South-Western Ontario. They also have a kit club, and it rocks! They host crops that are usually monthly, and 4 retreats per year (2 in the spring, 2 in the fall). At their events they offer layout and technique classes. I have been cropping with ScrapMuch? almost as long as they’ve been open. One of the things I love about ScrapMuch? is that they have been able to order in so many goodies for me, at amazing prices, and I can pick it up locally (but their shipping costs are great too!). ScrapMuch? is run by an amazing group of ladies who are so much fun to be around, so positive, and so inspiring.
In mid-March ScrapMuch? posted a design team call for designers to play with their weekly sketch challenges. Around the time of the posting I’d been thinking about applying to be a guest designer again when I saw they were allowing repeats. Then, I decided to shoot the moon and go whole ham and try for the team. They posted a sketch you had to create a layout for.
I had just received my Lawn Fawn Hello Sunshine collection kit and sequins from ScrapMuch? and I was really excited to play with it!
I added in some vellum from Stampin’ UP!, some twine from Jillibean Soup (because for me every layout needs some ribbon or twine!), a button from American Crafts, some Tattered Angels glimmer mist, and a Freckled Fawn paper clip. I die cut the title at the top using my Silhouette Cameo. The end result is pretty quintessentially me – a clean and simple scrapper, scrapping a travel photo.
They also asked us to share 2 of our favourite layouts as part of the application process. Well, I went through my albums and it was very very difficult to find 2 of my favourites. There were many I liked for many different reasons, but I have also been evolving as a scrapper. So I created 2 new layouts. I drew my inspiration for both from Pinterest.
I didn’t make note of all the products I mixed and matched in this layout. The CS is Stampin’ UP!, patterned paper is Carta Bella, frame is Fancy Pants, crochet flower is Kaiser Craft, stick pin is Little Yellow Bicycle with ribbon from stash, bingo cards and heart are Simple Stories, sequins are Lawn Fawn, ribbon and brad with banner is Echo Park, Tattered Angels glimmer mist and glaze, Janome sewing machine, this life is simply amazing clear pocket is Studio Calico, washi tape is Bella Blvd., rub-on title is from Luxe.
Again, I didn’t do a great job keeping track of all the products used. CS is Bazzill, PP is a mix of Bo Bunny, Close to My Heart, Kaiser Craft. Snapshot tag is Jillibean Soup, scallop border is Bazzill. Pearls are Melissa Frances, sequins are Lawn Fawn, crochet flower is Kaiser Craft, Fly Away chipboard embellishment and buttons are Fancy Pants. Wood letters are Pink Paislee. Stamps are Heidi Swapp and Tattered Angels. Inks are Tim Holtz distress and Stampin’ UP! Die cut was made with Silhouette Cameo. Ribbon is from stash. Also used Tim Holtz tiny attacher.
I had so much fun creating these layouts, using so many products from my collection, playing with so many techniques. They’re still clean and simple designs. I loved the process, I loved the end result. No matter the outcome of my application, I was thrilled to have 2 more layouts to put in my albums that I loved.
So from May until the end of October, every other week I will be sharing a sketch-based layout for ScrapMuch? and I hope you’ll play along and share your creations too! Tomorrow I’ll introduce you to the rest of the team and their blogs so you can be inspired by their creations also!
