Be Bold

When it comes to sharing my craftings I am extremely shy. I scrapped for several years before I was ever willing to bit by bit share my creations – starting with some blogging, some posting on ScrapMuch? blog to support my friends, and then I started to venture out and put some on 2Peas, and some on other sketch challenge sites. Enter: Let’s Get Sketchy. My friend Laura, has been with LGS for a while and that’s how I found them, and started taking part in some challenges. In July, one of my layouts was selected as a design team fav for the month (WOW!). And as I mentioned recently, I was published in their December e-zine. What an amazing and flattering ride it’s been!

The Let’s Get Sketchy crew are now compiling another e-zine for February release and blogged that they are looking for a Cover Girl. In real life I stand a mere 5’1″ and I’m not a twiggy waif, so I realistically know that I’ll never be a fashion mag cover girl. But maybe, just maybe, through the hobby I’ve grown to love, I could be a cover girl in another way…

Step 1 was to pick one of the 2 sketches to play along with. I chose this one:

With Valentine’s day right around the corner, and my pick up of some of the fab new Teresa Collins You Are My Happy, I created this layout to be considered for their cover (yes, really!!!).
date night

Patterned paper and enamel dots – Teresa Collins You Are My Happy; Wood hearts – Studio Calico; title stickers – Lawn Fawn; cardstock, crochet flowers – Stampin’ UP!; cork stick pin – My Little Yellow Bicycle; die cut – Silhouette Cameo; pop dots, journaling pen – American Crafts; circle punch 1 1/2″ – EK Success; other adhesives – Ranger glossy accents, Scotch ATG, Zots

At this point, I may win, I may not, but I’ll never know unless I try. This is a huge, and exciting, step forward for me.

Step 2 was to blog about the contest. Done!

Step 3 is to cross my fingers and wait, and be proud that I actually tried. And I will keep trying, consider yourself warned LGS 😉

If you haven’t played along with LGS, what’s stopping you?! They are an amazing bunch of inspiring, creative scrapbookers. If you want to try your hand at being their next Cover Girl, you have until January 15th to get your submission in!
