Scrapbooking From The Soul

I totally forgot that I didn’t post about the workshop I took at Two Peas in a Bucket called Scrapbooking From The Soul. I signed up for it as I’ve identified journaling as a weakness of mine. I seem to easily blog, or write in a journal, but when it comes to journaling for a scrapbook layout I get stuck. I loved the approach that Jill Sprott takes to journaling and building her layouts around that and used the workshop while I worked through the first two weeks of Lets Get Sketchy August sketch challenges. I’ve left the journaling out of the pictures because it is pretty personal. I’m looking forward to building more layouts around the journaling and really telling the story of the picture, the moment, why it was important, what I want to remember and even more thoughts beyond.

Week 1 Sketch:

And my take on the sketch:

The paper is all Teresa Collins Tell Your Story and Fabrications, embellies are also Teresa Collins Tell Your Story and the lettering is American Crafts thickers.

August Week 2:

And my take on the sketch:

I reduced this to an 8×8 layout and I’ll be putting these into a mini album called “Unwritten” that I started at Creative Escape many years ago. I’m happy to finally get to use the mini album now that it has a new purpose. The papers, button, stickers, stamp, journaling card are all from Teresa Collins Tell Your Story, the remember is from Pink Paislee Portfolio, the flowers and brad are from Prima, the rhinestone is  from Kaisercraft, the cardstock and ink are Stampin’ UP!

August Challenges

I’m still plugging along at the sketch challenges on Let’s Get Sketchy and ScrapMuch? and here are some of my most recent creations. I did one that was a challenge for the ScrapMuch? kit club members for fun even though I’m not a subscriber I loved the sketch and was on a roll. So here we go!

And my take:
Untitled

I used Echo Park’s Be Mine patterned paper, Stampin’ UP! cardstock, Tattered Angels glimmer mist in Tutti Frutti and Viva Pink, a Heidi Swapp flower, ribbon from my stash, and Crate Paper embellishments from the Random Standouts line.  I was gifted those awesome Crate Paper embellies from a contest on Two Peas in a Bucket from the super talented Lexi Bridges.

The next bunch of layouts I finally broke down and used my SEI Moravia paper that I LOVE to showcase the beautiful fall colours from the Bellagio in Las Vegas last year. I’m really trying to get as much of last year’s Las Vegas and Inspiration Unlimited scrapped before I leave this year. I might just make it.

For ScrapMuch?

My take:

The buttons in this layout are from Lexi Bridges again, they are American Crafts My House, the twine is from Close To My Heart, and the glitter alpha is Sassafras.

The ScrapMuch? kit club challenge:

The flowers are Prima, the centers I just circle punched from a picture of other flowers I saw in the displays, cardstock is Bazzill and the ribbon/lace is from my stash.

For Let’s Get Sketchy:

And my take:

The lettering is Pink Paislee, the flowers are Prima, the brads and leaf are Bo Bunny, the quote sticker is 7Gypsies, cardstock is Bazzill, ink is Tim Holtz distress in Ripe Persimmon and Gathered Twigs and the glimmer mist was Tattered Angels Iridescent Gold.

2 bonus projects I’m sharing is I used my Silhouette Cameo to create storage boxes for my 6×6 paper pads and a try for my journaling/flash cards.

Have a lovely day. I hope to catch up with the last challenges for August by the end of the week!

Catching Up!

So – right after I planned my “Day In The Life” with Ali, and I was doing fine with documenting my day, it went to hell and became a day I didn’t want to remember or really permanently document the goings on.  It’s life. I’ve let it go and I’m moving on.  I took a bit of a much needed scrappy break too. With my mojo revived I made a card on Friday, cropped all day Saturday and into the night after I got home. I had a bunch of things I wanted to work on, as well as some sketch challenges to get caught up on. There will be more to come today..

For ScrapMuch? August week 1 and 2..

Untitled
A complete stash busting layout. Using up some old Close To My Heart papers and cardstock I had to have when I was in a hostess club, featuring some flowers from the botanical gardens in DC. Ribbon is also CTMH. Fabric flowers on left are Heidi Swapp from my stash, epoxy flower centre says bloom (yay glare!) from Little Yellow Bicycle and there are 2 more epoxy bits on 2 of the photos from the pack too, bloom on right is very old Prima and the bling is in bulk from my stash, tag is by Tattered Angels and misted in Crushed Shells glimmer mist, lettering is by Pink Paislee.

Paper is 100% Heidi Swapp from my stash. I am a Heidi Swapp fanatic.  I think she’s always been a very cutting edge industry leader in scrapbooking.  I LOVED and MISS Creative Escape like nobody’s business. I was fortunate enough to buy a large box of Heidi Swapp products from her stash a few years ago and there was so much stuff in it and I’ve barely put a dent in it. I actually wound up selling a lot at a LSS garage sale because I really didn’t need 10+ sheets of each paper. I digress.. Lettering is again from Pink Paislee and the ribbon and HK embellie I picked up at an amazing store in Arizona when I was there for Creative Escape called Rufflers Roost.  If you are ever in the Phoenix area this store is a must stop. Wall to wall ribbons and great service and prices!

Here are some layouts inspired by some Creative Scrappers sketches:

Untitled
Papers are Graphic 45 Birdsong, wood letters are Pink Paislee and CS is Stampin’ UP! Yes, I did fussy cut all those lanterns at the top 🙂

Untitled
Papers are Graphic 45, flowers and leaves and clear button centers and clock tag are Bazzill, CS is American Crafts, washi is Bella Blvd and from a bulk stash, Y sticker and word strip stickers are 7 Gypsies, Remember This and clock are Teresa Collins, key is Maya Road, love dictionary definition is Fancy Pants. The cut flourish was from Eileen who made a happy mistake while making up ScrapMuch? kits and it was my gain!

These are some layouts using stash items:
Untitled
Papers are from Echo Park and a little bit of Fancy Pants too, stickers are Echo Park, flowers are Prima, buttons are Stampin’ UP!, Journey embellie is from Margie Romney Aslett’s Girl’s Paperie, bling from stash.
